The UK Government has today launch a Google earth map showing what could happen to the world should average global temperatures rise by 4 degree Celsius.

DECC Minister of State Greg Barker attended the launch event, where the Foreign Office unveiled their interactive map, developed in collaboration with the British Council, Met Office Hadley Centre and Google.

The interactive map is an innovative way of communicating the complex challenge of climate change. It features video entries from scientists from Met Office Hadley centre explaining their research. Impact circles highlight areas across the world that will suffer the most from the consequences of climate change.

The launch event at 14.00 BST offers journalists, scientists and climate bloggers the opportunity to see a preview of the Google Earth layer before it is available publically at 15.00 BST.

Follow the launch event live from 14.00 BST with Climate Charlotte on Twitter who highlights the need for a two degree limit in global temperature rise.
