Action by local authorities is critical in helping us achieve our climate change and energy objectives.
The ‘Energy measures report’, published in September 2007, sets out steps local authorities can take to:
- improve energy efficiency
- increase levels of microgeneration and use of low-carbon technologies
- reduce greenhouse gas emissions
- reduce the number of households living in fuel poverty
Local authorities have to ‘have regard’ to the report when exercising their functions.
