Energy Efficiency Deployment Office (EEDO)
The Energy Efficiency Deployment Office (EEDO) has been set up to drive a step change in energy efficiency.
Energy efficiency is at the heart of the government’s approach to tackling dangerous climate change and ensuring safe, secure and affordable energy supplies. Energy efficiency is often the quickest and most cost effective solution when compared with the alternatives, saving on energy bills and displacing more costly renewables deployment.
EEDO will:
- be the Government’s centre of expertise on energy efficiency
- support the coherent delivery of our existing energy efficiency policies
- develop the Government’s energy efficiency strategy (to be published by the end of 2012), including where there is further potential for energy efficiency across the economy and how this might be arrived at
EEDO comprises some 50 civil servants with expertise in analysis, economics, customer insight, statistics and policy delivery.
Energy Efficiency Call for Evidence
As part of developing our energy efficiency strategy we have launched an eight week ‘Call for Evidence’ as the first big step towards this strategy. This will close on 4 April 2012 and responses should be sent to the eedostrategy@decc.gsi.gov.uk email address.
The Energy Efficiency Evidence Brief
This document provides an overview of energy use in the UK, of international comparisons and of the energy efficiency potential across the economy. We are continuously improving our understanding of energy efficiency and will update this brief from time to time
ODYSSEE analysis paper
This paper provides statistical analysis of energy efficiency indicators for all major energy sectors. The analysis compares the level and trend of energy efficiency across the European Union and explains key measurement issues.
Further details on our existing energy efficiency policies can be found here:
