Establishing a CDM project
CDM projects must be established in accordance with the procedures and processes given by the CDM Executive Board at international level.
General information on the CDM is on the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change’s (UNFCCC) website. More detailed information is available on the UNFCCC CDM website.
Project preparation
For detailed information on approval, visit the CDM pages on project approval cycle on the UNFCCC website, where you can also find information on approved methodologies and procedures for adopting new methodologies, a list of Designated Operational Entities, and a list of Designated National Authorities (DNAs).
Project registration
Projects are registered following validation and a period of public comment on the application of a Designated Operational Entity (DOE). For a list of projects under public comment, go to the CDM pages on projects at the UNFCCC website.
Issuing credits
CERS are issued after verification of emission reductions by a DOE, on the request of project participants and parties involved. For a list of credits issued, or projects awaiting issue, visit the CDM pages on issuance.
Getting a UK Registry Account
To receive credits from CDM projects (CERs) or from Joint Implementation (JI) projects, you will need a person holding an account in the UK Registry. For more information, see the UK Registry page.
You can apply for an account online at the Registry website, where you will be asked to send certain information to the Environment Agency for checking, and the required fee.
