Have your say!
- “Will we have enough energy for an extra 15 million people?”
- “I want a car that is silent and powered by electricity.”
- “Should we build more nuclear power stations?”
My 2050 Schools Toolkit
- By 2050 young people will be living with the choices made today. A 13 year old today will be 52 years old in 2050 and may have children of their own. What future would they choose?
In partnership with Involve, Think Global and Sciencewise-ERC, the Department of Energy and Climate Change has created a classroom toolkit to help teachers engage Key Stage 3 and 4 students in debates about the energy choices we will have to make to reduce carbon emissions by 80% of 1990 levels by 2050.
What is the My2050 Schools Toolkit?
The My2050 Toolkit is a curriculum-friendly resource to support your students to use and learn from the UK’s Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC) “My 2050” simulation.
My 2050 Schools Toolkit
The My2050 Schools Toolkit can be downloaded in Word or as a PDF version, as a whole document or split into sections (for slower connections).
Feedback
Since launch in March 2011, over 10,000 ‘My2050 Worlds’ have been submitted online. The results of these have been analysed by Ipsos Mori. In partnership with Ipsos Mori we also held a series of deliberative dialogues with members of the public about the UK energy system using the 2050 Calculator. Details of these can also be downloaded below.
