Energy: its impact on the environment and society 2006

Energy: its impact on the environment and society cover

The Energy: its impact on the environment and society 2006 document draws on statistical information from the Digest of United Kingdom energy statistics (DUKES) and other government publications, to show key trends in energy.

It includes information on:

  • emissions
  • the environmental consequences of energy production and supply
  • the social impact of competition between suppliers
  • service quality issues
  • fuel poverty.

The following editions are also available:

Annexes

All annexes were written in July 2005 except annexes 1b, 2b, 2d, 3f, 4a, 4d, 5a and 5b which were updated in July 2006 and annex 2c which was updated in October 2006:

Review of this publication

Due to publications such as annual progress reports on the Energy white paper 2003: ‘Our energy future: creating a low-carbon economy’ and UK energy sector indicators, and the considerable resources required to update ‘Energy – its impact on the environment and society’, we have decided not to update this report in the foreseeable future. However, the majority of information published in ‘Energy – its impact on the environment and society is still updated elsewhere on the energy section of the DECC website. If you have difficulty finding it, please email Will Rose or call 0300 068 5045 for assistance.
