Quarterly emissions estimates

Last updated 19 April 2012

Provisional estimates of UK greenhouse gas emissions on a quarterly basis were published for the first time on Thursday 19th April 2012. This release covers quarterly emissions up to and including the 4th quarter of 2011.

This is a new series, which will be updated and published each quarter; the next update will be in July 2012, then October 2012, January 2013 and so on. Quarterly emissions estimates have a 3 month time lag, and are based on provisional inland energy consumption statistics, which are published in DECC’s quarterly Energy Trends publication.

The documents published are:

These estimates have been labelled as “Experimental Official Statistics” and will retain this label until further notice. We would welcome any comments from users on both the estimates and the methodology; please email the Climate Change Statistics Inbox for any questions and/or comments.
