To help ensure a robust evidence base to support the deployment of renewable energy, in 2010 DECC published a renewable and low-carbon capacity assessment methodology (PDF, 547 KB, 49 pages). These assessments have now been completed by each region to help support local authorities and communities make the most of opportunities for renewable energy deployment in their areas. A review of approaches adopted by the regions to the methodology has been produced by the National Non-Food Crop Centre.

These assessments have now been completed and their findings published, including for the North West, Yorkshire & Humber, South East, London, South West, West Midlands, East Midlands, East of England and North East.
