  • Safe transport of nuclear material by sea and air (in Great Britain) – different regulatory bodies for different modes of transport 

Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs

  • Discharge, disposal and (except on licensed sites) storage and use of radioactive material (in England) – regulated by the Environment Agency 

Secretary of State for Defence

  • Safety at defence-related nuclear sites 

Secretary of State for Health

  • Safety of radiation levels in food – regulated by the FSA 

National Assembly for Wales

  • Discharge, disposal, and (except on licensed sites) storage and use of radioactive material – regulated by the Environment Agency 

Scottish Executive

  • Discharge, disposal, and except on licensed sites, storage and use of radioactive material – regulated by SEPA

Secretary of State for Northern Ireland
