The Nuclear Energy Agency (NEA) is a specialised agency within the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), an intergovernmental organisation of industrialised countries, based in Paris, France.
The NEA aims to help its member countries maintain and develop, by co-operating internationally, the scientific, technological and legal bases required for the safe, environmentally friendly and economical use of nuclear energy for peaceful purposes. The Nuclear and Radioactive Waste Policy Team in DECC leads the UK delegation on the NEA Radioactive Waste management Committee (RWMC).
For more information on NEA and its relevance to radioactive waste management, and for related NEA publications, committees and working groups see the Nuclear Energy Agency: Radioactive waste management web pages.
