Nuclear non-proliferation
DECC contributes to the UK’s nuclear non-proliferation policy. and is accountable for formulating UK international policy on nuclear safeguards and other related nuclear non-proliferation issues.
All of our work must be seen in context of the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) and the work of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and nuclear-related export controls.
This nuclear non-proliferation section describes our role and provides information in five distinct areas:
- The Nuclear Non-Proliferation Policy Unit
- The Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT)
- The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA)
- UK nuclear safeguards including non-proliferation and the nuclear materials balance
- International export control regimes (The Nuclear Suppliers Group (NSG) & The Zangger Committee)
