External impact evaluation of the UK's programme addressing social and economic consequences of nuclear power plant closure
This report, 'External impact evaluation of the UK-funded programme to Ukraine, Lithuania and Bulgaria to address the Social and Economic Consequences of Nuclear Power Plant Closure', was published on 19 March 2010 and was commissioned to examine the longer-term impact of the UK funded Social and Economic Consequences of Nuclear Power Plant Closure Programme in Lithuania, Bulgaria and Ukraine which closed in 2007.
It focuses on assessing the Programme’s 'contribution to the social and economic resilience of communities affected by nuclear power plant closure' and builds on the documentation and learning contained in the Building Blocks for Regeneration end of programme review prepared in February 2007.
Building blocks for regeneration: achievements and lessons
This end of programme review was published in February 2007. It surveys the work undertaken by the UK Programme addressing the Social Consequences of Nuclear Power Plant Closures in Central and Eastern Europe. It examines the context, both in the regions themselves and of the international contribution made to regeneration, and seeks to draw lessons that can be learned from the programme by other local communities facing similar employment crises.
Nuclear Safety Programme completion report
This end of programme review was published on 29 December 2009. It marks the completion of the UK programme to improve nuclear safety in the countries of the Former Soviet Union and Central and Eastern Europe.
Chatham House report: UK contribution to G8 Global Partnership 2002-06
In January 2007, Chatham House published an independent, non-governmental review and evaluation of the UK's participation in the Global Partnership against weapons and materials of mass destruction 2002-2006, commissioned by DECC's forerunner, the Department of Trade and Industry. The purpose of the review was to judge the efficiency and effectiveness of the UK's contribution, and inform future policy on the allocation of resources.
The review found the UK contribution to the Global Partnership to have been "well planned and organized, appropriately funded and efficient, and - above all - effective".
