UK opt-in of nitrous oxide (N2O) into Phase II of the EU ETS
The UK has unilaterally opted-in N2O emissions from nitric acid production into Phase II of the EU ETS. This opt-in applies from 1 April 2011. In accordance with The Greenhouse Gas Emissions Trading Scheme (Nitrous Oxide) Regulations 2011 the UK has amended its Phase II NAP via the publication of Appendix F. For the purposes of the Greenhouse Gas Emissions Trading Scheme Regulations 2005 the above National Allocation Plan and its appendices A to F shall be the approved national allocation plan for the five year period beginning on 1 January 2008.
Banking of project credits
The UK Phase II NAP allows operators to bank project credits across all years of the phase. Borrowing of credits from future years is not permitted.
