UK CCS Commercialisation Programme

On 03 April 2012 the Government launched our new CCS Commercialisation Programme in order to support practical experience in the design, construction and operation of CCS. The aim of the Programme is to enable private sector electricity companies to take investment decisions to build CCS equipped fossil-fuel power stations, in the 2020s, without Government capital subsidy, and at an electricity market price that is competitive with other low carbon generation technologies.
We also launched our CCS Roadmap which sets out the strategic context for the Government’s interventions to support the development and deployment of cost competitive CCS and the steps being taken to achieve this outcome, and announced our request to the CCS Association to establish a CCS Cost Reduction Task Force led by industry
