Guidance on Carbon Capture Readiness and Applications under Section 36 of the Electricity Act 1989: a consultation

This consultation ran from 23 April until 22 June 2009 and sought views on the clarity and coverage of draft guidance on complying with the Government’s new policy on carbon capture readiness or CCR. The guidance is designed for operators seeking consent under section 36 of the Electricity Act 1989 to construct and operate generating stations in England and Wales. This policy applies to new combustion plants with a generating capacity of 300 MWe and above and was introduced by Government with effect from 23 April 2009 following the “Towards Carbon Capture and Storage” consultation which covered the role CCR should play in the development consent process.
