Offshore Environmental Inspectorate (OED) - Inspection Letters
- OED prepare Inspection letters following each offshore environmental inspection carried out by DECC's specialist environmental staff. These letters detail areas where there are non-compliances by the offshore oil and gas industry in relation to the Environmental Regulations which DECC enforce, or where may be areas which may require attention to ensure continued compliance.
Inspection letters are made available to the public upon request to: Offshore.Inspectorate@decc.gsi.gov.uk
Offshore Environmental Inspectorate (OED) – Investigation reports
- In some cases offshore oil and gas environmental incidents require formal investigation in accordance with DECC’s Enforcement Procedures. Enforcement action varies in severity, with the most significant cases resulting in prosecution activity through the Courts. This will generate paperwork, sometimes significant volumes.
Paperwork is made available to the public on request to: Offshore.Inspectorate@decc.gsi.gov.uk
- but only once the investigation has been concluded. (Until this point it may be considered 'sub-judice' to release the information)
