About DECC.gov.uk
The DECC website was developed rapidly following the creation of the Department, going live in February 2009 . Since inception, the DECC web estate has grown with hundreds of pages of content from BIS.gov.uk and DEFRA.gov.uk being absorbed on to the DECC website following a content migration project in Summer 2009.
A restructured DECC website went live on 7 June 2011.
The changes were based on the results of research with the Department’s staff, stakeholders and website users, and include alterations to the information architecture of the site, its look and feel, content tagging and a new A-Z of policy content.
As a result of the restructured architecture, the revised website aims to:
- increase users’ understanding of what they need to do on the site and how to do it,
- increase users’ ability to get it right first time and
- generate benefits in increased efficiency and effectiveness for DECC by reducing the number of enquiries that might otherwise be fielded through phone calls or correspondence.
We will monitor the success of the site through annual surveys and web traffic analytics, but feedback can also be sent to us at anytime via the Contact Us page.
Costs
The cost for the rebuild was £71,355
