DECC is a small department, but we deal with issues of global importance - and we have a complex budget of almost £3 billion a year. Our goals include reducing greenhouse gas emissions in the UK, securing global commitments which prevent dangerous climate change, and ensuring secure, affordable energy supplies.
Our procurement follows some key objectives:
- Obtaining maximum value for money in contracting for the goods and services that enable the department to deliver its business objectives;
- Enhancing the competitiveness of the supply base;
- 'Value for money' means the optimal combination of costs, service delivery and quality.
