We work with a wide variety of organisations, both within and outside Government. Some of our key delivery partners are listed below.
In July 2010, the Secretary of State announced a review of the delivery undertaken for DECC by a number of organisations including: the Energy Saving Trust, the Carbon Trust, Ofgem / E-Serve, Environment Agency, Coal Authority and the Energy Development Unit (within DECC).
A summary of conclusions was published in May 2011.
Other Government Departments
The Gas and Electricity Markets Authority (GEMA) governs the more widely known Ofgem (Office of the Gas and Electricity Markets). GEMA determines strategy, sets policy priorities and takes decisions on a range of matters, including price controls and enforcement.
DECC's Non-Departmental Public Bodies (NDPBs) & sponsor teams
DECC has responsibility for seven non-departmental public bodies (NDPBs). Four are classed as executive bodies and three are advisory. In addition, DECC has responsibility for oversight of the Nuclear Liabilities Fund, a public corporation.
Public Corporations
Nuclear Liabilities Fund
The Nuclear Generation Decommissioning Fund Ltd was incorporated in March 1996. Following the restructuring of British Energy in January 2005, the fund became the Nuclear Liabilities Fund. It was created to provide arrangements for funding certain long-term costs of decommissioning some nuclear power stations.
Sponsored Partners
DECC is also associated with a number of other bodies.
Other NDPBs carry out work for DECC but are not owned by the department. One of these is the Environment Agency (EA), which is owned by Defra.
Public Bodies Reports
Each year every Government Department is required to publish information about the Non-Departmental Public Bodies for which it is responsible. DECC’s annual public bodies reports can be found below:
